
A lesson to filmmakers out there, especially those working in the horror genre: if you’re going to make a movie about a babysitting gig gone wrong, you better be prepared for the inevitable comparisons to When A Stranger Calls.
Thankfully, director Ti West’s homage to 80’s horror The House of the Devil more than lives up to the above lesson.

Ah, how refreshing it is to see a movies with vampires who…THE HORROR!…drink human blood.
With Daybreakers, the cinematic gods have seen fit to return some sense of dignity, normalcy and gore to the vampire genre. Praise be!

To those of you unfamiliar with the name Lars Von Trier, I humbly suggest going no further in reading this review. Instead, go see Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart, or even pay to see Fantastic Mr. Fox a second time.
